SAFETY FIRST: HOW TO PRIORITIES HEALTH & SAFETY
  1. Always use the right equipment for the right job
  2. Maintain equipment and machinery regularly
  3. Ensure maintaining work is carried out correctly
  4. Repetition is the mother of all learning: Continually reinforce safe work place practices
  5. Have a well-train  ed and well qualified safety officer on board each ship.
THE LEGAL LOWDOWN TOP 5 Health & Safety Tips
  1. SET THE TONE : Be compliant right from the start
  2. PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE: Proactively continue to reinforce safety messages.
  3. SAFETY START AT THE TOP: ISM Code requires shore and shipboard personals to have direct knowledge of their operations and associated health and safety issues. A junior officer or Crew is unlikely to commit to safety if the officer in charge doesn’t lead the example.
  4. FEEDBACK: It work two ways, as not only provided the post operation work experience but gives a broad framework for the improvement areas.
  5. NEVER CUT CORNERS: injuries or death, fines and /or jail time are not worth short term safety sacrifices.
