- Take appropriate remedial action.
- Go by the checklist first.
- Verify that action taken is having the desired effect.
- Call for assistance.
- Notify all those who need to know.
- Inform outside world by lights, flags and VHF if appropriate.
- Ensure that any change over procedure is properly carried out & that any alternative system is tested and verified.
- Make certain that proper communications enable actions to be verified and monitored.
- Support the emergency organization working.
- Keep a vigilant lookout whilst the emergency is being solved.
- Keep accurate record.
