The Cargo Securing Manual is required on all types of ships engaged in the carriage of all cargoes other than solid and liquid bulk cargoes.
In other words we can explain:
All cargoes other than solid and liquid bulk cargoes shall be loaded, stowed and secured throughout the voyage, in accordance with the Cargo Securing Manual approved by the Administration.
In ships with Ro-Ro cargo spaces, as defined in regulation II-2/3.14, all securing of such cargoes, in accordance with the Cargo Securing Manual shall be completed before the ship leaves the berth. The Cargo Securing Manual shall be drawn up to a standard at least equivalent to the guidelines developed by the Organization.
Regulations :
In accordance with the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, 1974 (SOLAS) chapters VI, VII and the Code of Safe Practice for Cargo Stowage and Securing (CSS Code), cargo units, including containers shall be stowed and secured throughout the voyage in accordance with a Cargo Securing Manual, approved by the Administration
NOTE:
The purpose of this manual is to provide guidance to the Master and crew on board the vessel with respect to the proper stowage and securing of cargo units.
