The ventilation and illumination equipment should be adequately operated and the cargo space should be cleared of ship equipment so that the inside of the hold is a work area that is as safe and comfortable as possible.
Vehicle route signs
Vehicle route signs should be put in the hold so that collisions and near –collisions can be avoided.
Worker and vehicle fall prevention
Measures should be taken at the following places so that workers and vehicles are prevented from falling.
- Shore-ramp gates over two levels
- Vicinity of liftable decks that are partially open
- Gates that are opened for greater ventilation effect
- Places where pontoon decks are not partially installed
- Vicinity of elevator entrances
Fire prevention measures
Fire extinguishing devices should be provided in accordance with the relevant regulations and “NO SMOKING” signs should also be positioned.
