What is Static and Dynamic test of life boat?

As per LSA code chapter VI (LAUNCHING AND EMBARKATION APPLIANCES)

STATIC TEST OF LIFEBOAT

  • Done 5 yearly.
  • Loaded to not less than 1.5 times the Maximum brake holding capacity of Davit
  • Tested for deformation

DYNAMIC TEST

  • Done 5 yearly.
  • Loaded to not less than 1.1 times the Maximum  brake holding capacity of Davit.
  • Released at max lowering speed Tested for deformation
Note :
  1. Static and dynamic test are done only in drydock.
  2. Static and dynamic test are done annually the dynamic test onboard by L/B manufacturing company representative with no crew in boat and lowered at Maximum lowering speed and checked.
