What are regulations regarding oil record book as per Marpol ?

  • Every oil tanker of 150 gross tons above must be provided with one.
  • The oil record book must be completed when:
    • Ballasting and cleaning of oil fuel tanks
    • Discharge of dirty ballast or cleaning water from tanks
    • Disposal of oily residues
    • Discharge overboard of bilge water
    • Loading/unloading of oil cargo
    • Internal transfer of oil during voyage
    • Ballasting of cargo tanks and dedicated clean ballast tanks
    • Cleaning of cargo oil tanks
    • Discharge of ballast
    • Disposal of residues
  • The oil record book is to be kept in a place readily available for inspection at any time.
