Prior to arrival in high risk area ports, security plans and precautions at anchor and when alongside pier shall be developed:
- Precautions Whilst at Anchor
- Anchor wash water shall be left running.
- Hawse pipe covers shall be kept closed and secured.
- Spurling pipes shall be sealed and secured.
Additional over vessel’s side illumination is required around bow and stern.
Lookouts shall be:
- Posted on forecastle and poop decks during hours of darkness.
- In radio contact with bridge OOW.
Following spaces shall be:
- Kept closed and locked at all times when not in use.
- Immediately re-locked after use.
- Forecastle store rooms and working spaces.
- Forecastle and Centrecastle doors.
- Access hatches to forecastle area.
- Other storerooms, workshops, access trunks and any area with external doors.
- Storing hatches.
- Unused cabins, hospital, cleaning lockers etc.
During hours of darkness access doors permitting access to machinery spaces and accommodation spaces shall be secured. Only access to superstructure should be via wheelhouse.
