Safety signal “Securite” indicates that an important meteorological or navigational warning is about to follow.
In GMDSS, safety alert indicates that an important meteorological or navigational warning is about to follow. The message is send on working channel/ frequency after the announcement of the distress frequency. Most safety calls/ message send upon receipt an at the end of the next silence period.
Radio telephony silence period
00 – 03 minutes
30 – 33 minutes every hour
- VHF CH-13 is used as an internship navigational safety
- All stations safety alert is transmitted on DSCCH – 70 and 5 Khz.
- Safety message is transmitted on CH – 16 or CH -13 and 2182 kHz.

Listen for Navigational warning on frequency/ channel.
In case if channel in changed, or working frequency or channel is changed, the safety call should be repeated.
