How to calculate safe anchoring depth of a ship ?

Followings points to be kept in mind for calculating safe anchoring depth

MGA38

Weight of anchor:  16.125 MT

Diameter of Chain:         114 mm

Grade of Chain:      Grade 3

Weight/?mtr of Grade 3 chain:       .18478 MT/Mtr

Windlass working capacity:   60 MT

80% Of Working capacity:      48 MT

Wt of Anchor + Weight of Chain    =48 MT

Weight of chain      = 48 –16.125 MT = 31.8 MT

Mtrs of chain = 31.8 / .18478 = 108.65 / 27.5 = 3.94 Shackles.

Therefore :

Max safe anchoring depth = 3.94 X 27.5 = 108.3 MTRS
